Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) marked a significant engineering milestone on 10th June 2026 with the successful completion of a complex Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crossing under the Pune–Talegaon CGS Loop Line Project.
The project involved the installation of 10-inch and 4-inch steel pipelines through an approximately 600-metre drill path (about 560 metres of horizontal length), making it one of the longest and most challenging HDD crossings of its kind executed by a City Gas Distribution (CGD) company within a densely congested urban utility corridor in India.
The project received active encouragement from MNGL's Managing Director, Shri Girija Shankar, who personally visited the site, performed the traditional puja before the pullback operation, and reviewed the progress of the HDD works, inspiring the team towards safe and timely completion.
This landmark achievement has enabled the completion of the Talegaon CGS Loop Line, connecting GAIL RT Talegaon with MNGL's main steel pipeline grid extended from GAIL RT Pune (Chikhali). The project significantly strengthens supply reliability, network redundancy, operational flexibility, and the overall resilience of Pune's gas distribution infrastructure.
MNGL congratulates the Steel Planning & Projects Team, Operations Team, Fire & Safety Team, M/s Trije Engineers (HDD Vendor), M/s Resonance Energy Pvt. Ltd. (PMC), and all stakeholders whose dedication, technical expertise, and perseverance made this achievement possible.
